Flint Hill Teams Swim School Records

The girls team ranked their highest in school history.

Flint Hill swimmers won personal bests and qualified for finals in the VISAA championship meet in Richmond Feb. 16. The girls team finished in seventh place, their best in school history, while the boys placed 22nd. All nine Flint Hill swimmers who competed in the events swam personal bests. A Look Ahead for Oakton High's Girls Swim

The team will welcome back all three 2013 individual state champions next season.

Oakton High School's girls swim team finished strong this season with their second consecutive state title. Next year they'll fight for their third with all three of the team's invidivual state champions. The Cougars will welcome back Janet Hu, Laura Branton and Megan Byrnes next year. They'll also see the return of state finalists Julia Capobianco, Kendall Lawhorn and Elise Bourdelais. A third title isn't a given, however. The team has a lot of work ahead, especially as they graduate two strong swimmers. "There will be big shoes to fill both in performance and leadership with the graduation of Gillian Crews and Melissa Shebat," said coach Parker Ramsell. Oakton Girls Swimmers Win Second State Championship

Boys place third.

Oakton High School's girls swim and dive team won the state championship for the second year in a row this weekend. The boys team placed third. The Cougar ladies triumphed over Yorktown and McLean with 275 points and two new state records in the 200-yeard medley relay race (time of 1:45.11) and 200-yard freestyle relay (time of 3:28.44). The boys won third place with 192 points. Flint Hill Swimmers Win Against Potomac School

Boys and girls showed a strong effort with final scores to match.

Flint Hill swimmers defeated rival Potomac School Wedneday night in a double victory that ended the regular season. The boys topped Potomac 82-63 and tallied five event wins.
