Oakton falls to Langley 16-12 a game short of the Northern Region Championship
After a postseason run that exceeded outside expectations because of a lackluster 2-3 regular season district record, Coach Grif Barhight had nothing but positive things to say about his boys lacrosse team following their season-ending Northern Region semifinal loss to Langley on Thursday night. "They battled hard all season long," Barhight said after the 16-12 loss. "I can't say enough good things about how the guys played to get us this far. I'm so impressed with the ways they've pushed themselves, and not just on the field. They're really good guys off the field, too." Their determination to defy predictions resulted in a Concorde District Championship after entering the tournament a No. 4 seed. Before their 9-8 victory over Westfield …

Though the Cougars tallied the first point on the scoreboard, the teams battled from the start, as the Bulldogs went a man down on the first play. Evan Lalande opened scoring on an assist from Stephen Lambrides, which the Bulldogs answered two minutes later. The Wildcats pulled ahead with 6:22 left in the first quarter, which the Cougars matched about a …

The Oakton High boys lacrosse team ended its regular season with a 10-3 victory over Lake Braddock on Wednesday, earning the graduating Cougars a win on Senior Night. Oakton unable to overcome Chantilly's second-half scoring run
Though the Oakton High boys lacrosse team kept their Concorde District battle with Chantilly close through the first half, the Cougars saw their lead slep away in the second to give the Chargers a 10-8 victory Friday. "We lost to a good, well-coached team," Coach Grif Barhight said. "They've only lost one district game in the last four years." The first quarter ended with the game tied, with goals from Sean Schweiker and Jack Harris on an assist from Schweiker. Harris, who scored a team-high four goals, also scored in the second quarter, this time with an assist from Evan Lalande. The Chargers again tied the game with about three minutes left in the half.
