Humorist Helps Drive Successful Fundraiser for SCOV

Shepherd's Center raises more than $25,000 with Jeanne Robertson show

When Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna set out to expand their fall fundraiser to a larger audience, they could only hope for the kind of turn out Jeanne Robertson attracted. In SCOV's most successful fundraiser to date, a sold-out crowd of 1,200 people showed up to the Vienna Presbyterian Church to see humorist Robertson put on a show. The event raised more than $25,000 for SCOV. Robertson did not disappoint. She addressed the crowd with the ease of simply telling the audience real-life stories that put her captive audience in hysterics throughout the show. Shepherd's Center to Welcome Humorist Jeanne Robertson

Performance on Sunday to benefit Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna

She calls herself "A tall lady with a tall sense of humor," and now she's performing to help the Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna meet a tall order. Humorist Jeanne Robertson will perform 3 p.m. Sunday at Vienna Presbyterian Church in a benefit show for the Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna. SCOV hopes to have a packed house for its biggest fundraiser of the year. In years past, the October show featured local musicians or speakers, which tended to attract an audience who came for the benefit rather than the act. This year, SCOV wanted a performer with national appeal who could draw a crowd beyond the generous SCOV supporters. So far, the strategy is paying off.
