Girls Lacrosse: Huskies Squeeze Out Win Over Gators

Flint Hill defeats Stone Ridge 10-9 on Thursday

Down a player for the entire second half after tallying four yellow cards in the first, the Flint Hill girls lacrosse team hunkered down to pull out a 10-9 win over Stone Ridge on Thursday. After starting the game up 5-0, the Huskies lost their large lead as the Gators went on a 5-1 scoring spree.  The Huskies entered halftime up 6-5, with three goals from Lizzie Schwien, and one each from Catie Chess, Mary Lewis and Jillian Goulding. The second half started with three straight Stone Ridge goals to put the Huskies at a 2-point deficit. Flint Hill School loses to Illinois-based team 14-11

The first half of the game stayed close, with the Huskies and Ramblers matching each other's goals until the Ramblers pulled away with a 5-2 lead. Lizzie Schwien and Hannah Donegan scored the Huskies' first two goals. Schwien added another goal with about 10 minutes left in the half, and the scoreboard would stand at 5-3 for almost eight minutes before Courtney Wiley netted a goal to bring the Huskies within one. But the Ramblers added another point with 17 seconds on the clock to put them at a 6-4 advantage heading into the second half. The Ramblers added …

Flint Hill Girls Lacrosse Builds on Young Speed

Huskies hope to finish higher in the ISL rankings with a young, fast team

Though the Flint Hill girls lacrosse team lost significant players from last year's offense, the Huskies have set the goal to place higher in the Independent School League than their 2011 fourth-place finish. After graduating Jess Fellows (Naval Academy), Claire Doyle (Bucknell), Meaghan Stertzer and Lauren Police, who combined for majority of the Huskies' points, the team is rebuilding with a young but talented team.   "Because we're young, we're still working on gelling, especially on offense," Coach Samantha Eustace said. "We're working on getting our offense to feel good about going to goal." Eustace has already seen improvement since the start of the season, and hopes the team's speed and depth will carry them far. "We have the …
