Winter. Dead. (Patch photo by Todd Richissin, who danced on the grave.)

Nice article and fun facts. Not sure what forecast you're looking at, though. Mine says snow TuesdayRead More night!

Spring snow, Arva! The old man's dead. Or so I wish. " (We'll consider Tuesday's chance of snowRead More showers a brief evil side of spring.)"
Davin Peterson March 21, 2014 at 12:26 pm
It may be spring, but there is a chance of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday of next week.

My Dear Friends, I had been thinking about you and your lovely family for a couple days now, notRead More knowing that Peter Jr. was in heaven with God. I thought about how much my son John enjoyed having Peter as a roommate in the hospital. He was the one friend he had there and after coming home he would randomly say, "I wonder how Peter is doing?" I am so sad to hear of his passing but grateful for a beautiful last day and words shared with his parents. My prayers will be with you and my heart goes out to you. God Bless you and comfort you in your loss. Much love, Terry Forrester (John Forrester's mother)

It was an honor to be privy to the eulogy and have a glimpse into the short life of a young manRead More whose loss I sense every time I drive or walk down Vale. I can only speak for myself and my family, but I believe the entire community grieves with the Gallaghers for their tragic loss.

Erica, please ask the police why no officers were stationed at this mess during rush hour!
Erica R. Hendry May 4, 2012 at 01:12 pm
Hi Elizamore -- we're working on getting more information from the police and other agenciesRead More involved. Stay tuned. Thanks for reading, Erica

I would like to remind everyone that there was a similar traffic-tie-up at the intersection ofRead More Lawyer's road and Hunter Mill road a few months ago (last fall, IIRC). During that congestion, Fairfax county was also remiss, failing to deploy enough police to re-route and detour the traffic. Folks, I see a pattern here. Fairfax County government simply is not using our tax dollars wisely. It is time to throw the politicians out of office and elect some patriots who know what they are doing. -- Paul D. We are praying for this family and hope they know that the entire Thoreau community wants to supportRead More them at this time during their terrible loss. The students are devastated, and I want to applaud the school and its leaders for their sensitive handling of this sad event. --Kristin CLarke

Driving around Vienna, one can't help but notice all the blue ribbons in memory of Jack Donaldson.Read More It is a lovely tribute to Jack and must be a great comfort to his family. It can also serve as a reminder to all of us of the many lives we touch in the course of our days, however fleeting. I will be mindful of this in my interactions with others and strive to be the sort of person who is remembered with blue ribbons.

I just came across this article and felt moved to leave just a few words. With all the kinds ofRead More grief existing in this world, to me one of the most dreadful seems the loss of a child. I cannot imagine I could deal well with it. But thanks to the God of all comfort who is our only hope. I could only be at peace in the thought that the pain we experience at such a time is ours, and not our dear departed's, at home with the Lord. God be with you, all who mourn.

I miss you jack. Might not remember me but I sat next to you in 4th grade. I think about you everyRead More day. ~ Alex Smith

Steve, Gyoen and Nick: I can't stop thinking about Evan and how you all are coping with thisRead More tragedy. I've known you since Appletree School when Nick went to school with our son, Julian. I was out of town on Saturday, so I missed the memorial. I'm sad, very sad. Julian, Xiou and I offer our condolences and our love to all of you.

I was his friend and I was shocked to here this. His 3 best friends were Thomas, Marcos, and Jared.Read More I sat at his table during lunch and his laugh was contagious, when he laughed, I laughed to. When everyone was laughing, he laughed harder. He was like a brother to me and I miss him sooooo much.
