Daily Baseball Update: 6/26

Now with school done and wifi set up at my trailer in Delaware, you can expect much more frequent updates.

Historical Individual Seasons: Gaylord Perry 1972
Stat Line: 24-16, 1.92 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 234 K'S.  Age 33.
Gaylord Perry pitched in 22 major league seasons, but perhaps none was greater than his eleventh, the 1972 season.  His 24 wins and 29 complete games lead the American League, while his 1.92 ERA finished second to Luis Tiant's 1.91 and his 0.98 WHIP finished third.  He earned a trip to the All Star Game, where he pitched two innings for the American League team.  Opponents hit just .205 against him as he went on to earn the AL Cy Young Award with 64 points, defeating Wilbur Wood's 58 and Mickey Lolich's 27 (points determined by votes by BBWAA writers).  Wood had gone 24-17 with a 2.51 ERA and Lolich was 22-14 with a 2.50 ERA.  As a refresher, Perry was 24-16 with a 1.92 ERA.
