Vienna 13-15s Down Augusta County 16-2

Vienna beat Augusta County 16-2 in their first game at the Virginia State Tournament in Stanardsville. Their next game is against New Kent County.

Vienna got off on the right foot at the State Tournament in Stanardsville, defeating Augusta County 16-2 in game one. It was a highly anticipated rematch of last year's State Championship game in Summit Point, W.V., but this year's rendition of the game did not go the same way as Augusta's 12-9 victory last year.

To start off the game, Owen Socher ripped a single into right field, and it was all Vienna from there on. They dropped two in the first inning to back a solid Brandon Miskell pitching performance, and never turned back. The runs kept pouring on as Vienna pounded Augusta each inning. Thomas Ale, making a return from a broken ankle, closed out the game by pitching the final two innings.

Vienna now goes on to face New Kent County (30 miles east of Richmond), who beat Brunswick County 11-10 in their first game.
