Daily Baseball Update: 9/5
The White Sox had a day to forget, the Billy Hamiltons draw coincidence, an little known Babe Ruth fact, and Jose Bautista again leading the way all appear in today's update.
Did You Know
Billy Hamilton, a 20-year-old Class A outfielder in the Reds organization, is making history down in Dayton. With three stolen bases on the 9/3 against Lancaster, Hamilton reached the 100 stolen base plateau for the season. As much as I have searched, I have not been able to find out if that is the record or not. I do know that it brings up an interesting coincidence. Billy is not the only Billy Hamilton to put up frantic stolen base rates. Billy Hamilton, an outfielder who played from 1888-1901, stole 324 bases from 1889-1891, or 108 per season, including 111 twice. He finished with 912 over his 14-year career.
