Daily Baseball Update: 10/8: End of LDS

Two teams clinched an NLCS berth, one of them riding one of the greatest postseason pitching performances of all time.

Record of the Day

Most walks in a season: Barry Bonds*, 232 in 2004.

Bonds literally walked away with this record. No one else has walked more than even 170 times, and that was Babe Ruth who reached 170. Bonds, whose steroid usage hugely asterisks his career, batted .362 that year en route to an incredible .609 on base percentage. He also had only 373 at bats despite playing in 147 games. Bonds walked 2,558 times in 2,986 career games.
