Daily Baseball Update: 10/16: LCS

Nelson Cruz set a home run record in a historic Rangers drubbing over the Tigers, sending them home empty handed.

Record of the Day

Most home runs in a playoff series: Nelson Cruz (Rangers), 6 (2011 ALCS).

Yesterday, Nelson Cruz hit his sixth home run of the 2011 ALCS. That home run broke a record shared by Chase Utley, Reggie Jackson, Ken Griffey, Jr., and Juan Gonzalez for most home runs in a playoff series at five. Cruz has absolutely dominated this ALCS, netting him the ALCS MVP honors on six home runs, 13 RBI, and a .364 AVG over 6 games.  Now, he only has to hope that this World Series doesn't end like the last one, where Brian Wilson struck Cruz out to end it all.
