Week Ahead: Register to Vote, Halloween Movies, Nova Brewfest

The week ahead in Fairfax County.

The deadline to register to vote in the November 5 Virginia General Election is 5 p.m. Tuesday. Find out how to register online

Former Washington Redskins Wide Receiver James Thrash will make an appearance at the Fairfax County Champion of Character awards at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairfax County Government Center on 12000 Government Center Parkway. The awards recognize local role models who demonstrate positive sportsmanship. 

Like to get scared? Check out the Halloween Movie Fest this week at the Patrick Henry Library. Watch classic b-horror films like The Golem or The Brain That Wouldn’t Die starting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the library on 101 Maple Ave. E. in Vienna.

The deadline for submitting online and paper applications to the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology’s 2014-15 freshman class is 4 p.m. on Friday. Apply online at www.TJAdmissions.org.

The Fall Nova Brewfest is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Centreville’s Bull Run Regional Park. Sample 60 craft beers and eat food, listen to live music, and check out craft vendors. Get tickets online.
