Christmas Eve Services in Northern Virginia, Christmas Closures, and J Fest

This week in Fairfax County.

Most government services will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. See what’s opened and what’s closed 

Check out the Children’s Christmas Eve Service at the Vienna Baptist Church. The service is at 5:30 p.m. at the church on 541 Marshall Road, S.W. in Vienna. Participants are asked to bring diapers, formula, and other supplies for infants and toddlers, to be donated to City Gate Ministries in Washington, D.C. The church is also hosting their traditional Christmas Eve service by candlelight at 7 p.m. 

The Christ Presbyterian Church will host their Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. The children’s choir will be singing special music for the occasion. The church is on 12410 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Fairfax.

The Silverbrook United Methodist Church is hosting several Christmas-themed services. Their service for “Hope and Healing” for those who feel sadness during the holidays is at 7 p.m. Monday. Their children’s Christmas Eve Service is at 5 p.m., and their candlelight service is at 7 p.m. All services take place at 8616 Silverbrook Road in Lorton.

Celebrate a Bluegrass Christmas with the Big Hillbilly band. The event is at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 at the Franconia Hall Fire Station 5 on 6300 Beulah St. in Franconia.

The Groveton Baptist Church’s Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is at 7 p.m. at the church on 6511 Richmond Highway in Alexandria. 

Don’t celebrate Christmas? The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is hosting their annual J Fest on Christmas Day. The event is at 11 a.m. on 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax. There will be games, arts and crafts, a moon bounce, and kosher food will be served.

Also on Christmas Day, view Hava Nagila (The Movie), a “documentary romp through the history, mystery and meaning of the great Jewish standard,” event organizers say. The event is at 3 p.m. on Christmas Day at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia at 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax. Find out more information.
