Wrestling: Oakton Places Third in District Tourney

Oakton wrestlers put the team in third place among Concorde District teams with a strong performance in this weekend's tournament.

Austin Murga earned first place among the 195-pound wrestlers with a 3-2 victory over Centreville's David Chenevey. Murga won the 2011 district title in the 189-pound weight class.

Eddie Gerow (126 pounds), Albert Borges (152), Matt Notarangelo (160), Josh Newman (182) and Spencer Conley (285) all placed second.

Four Cougars advanced to the consolation final Saturday: Alex Schlegel (113), Thomas Price (138), Luis Riveria (145) and Matt Moskowitz (170). All four placed fourth in their weight classes.

Wrestlers who ranked within the top four will advance to the Northern Region Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 10-11. Ten Cougars will compete in regionals.
