Watts Throws Game-Winning Touchdown for Tulsa

Throughout the school year, Oakton Patch works hard to keep readers updated on the athletic achievements of Oakton High and Flint Hill School students. But what happens once those athletes leave high school?

With strong programs at both high schools, many students have opportunities to continue with athletics in college. And some are talented enough for a post-collegiate athletic career. 

This weekly feature highlights what graduates from Oakton High and Flint Hill School are accomplishing beyond high school.

Week of Sept. 17-23

Basketball

Jasmine Thomas scored 23 points over the last two games of the Washington Mystics' season. The Oakton High grad finished the season averaging 8.2 points per game.

Cross-Country

Chris Jewell placed 12th in the Towson Invitational with a time of 27:54.60 on Friday.

Football

Tailback Trey Watts made his first career touchdown pass in Tulsa's comeback win against Fresno State on Saturday. The Oakton High grad took a pitch from quarterback Cody Green and lauched a 26-yard touchdown. He also had nine rushing yards, three punt returns for 19 yards and three kickoff returns for 57 yards.

Chris Coyer tallied 64 rushing yards and 124 passing yards, including a 1-yard touchdown pass in Temple's loss to Penn State on Saturday.

Arlandis Harvey had 12 receiving yards with one catch in James Madison University's rout over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Jovan Smith scored a 1-yard touchdown to open scoring in the University of Richmond's win over Georgia State. He rushed 43 yards on 12 carries, and notched 47 receiving yards.

Jack Tyler made seven tackles — five solo — and broke up one pass in Virginia Tech's shutout victory over Bowling Green on Saturday.

Soccer

Myles McGinley had an assist in both of Princeton's wins in the Princeton Soccer Invitational over the weekend.

Volleyball

Terran Bargeron had 11 kills in Christopher Newport University's sweep in the USA South tri-match. Teammate Christie Fellows had six kills.

Tori Janowski notched 16 assists in University of Virginia's loss to Miami on Friday. She had 20 assists and 12 digs in the loss to Florida State.
