“Oakton dive did extremely well tonight. We have a very young team this season and they keep setting the bar higher and higher each meet, which is very impressive. We plan to keep up the hard work throughout the season into districts and beyond," said Andy Berger, dive captain.

Swim:

  • 200-yard medley relay (boys), first place, Conor Murphy, Ryan Santoro, Philip Hu and Gregory DeRosa
  • 200-yard medley relay (girls), first place, Janet Hu, Melissa Shebat, Gillian Crews and Kendall Lawhorn
  • 500-yard freestyle (girls), Oakton placed swimmers at first through fourth places
  • Janet Hu: first place in both 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
  • Dylan Staniszewski: first place in 200-yard freestyle; second place in 100-yard freestyle
  • Carter Sharer: first place in both 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle
  • Conor Murphy: first place in both 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
  • Philip Hu: first place in 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke
  • Denny Nguyen: first place 200-yard individual medley; second place 100-yard freestyle

“Oakton really did a nice job across the board,” said Parker Ramsdell, Oakton’s head swim coach.

"Joe LeBerre continues to dominate, Andy Berger is improving, and the girls are doing better and better each week," said Cheryl Meltz, head dive coach. "As a whole, we are continuing to improve, and we’re working to put together our district list.”

Swim:

  • Boys placed first in every event
  • Boys swept in 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke
  • Girls swept 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
  • Philip Hu: first place in 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle
  • Carter Sharer: first place in 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke
  • Denny Nguyen: first place in 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
  • Janet Hu: first place in 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle
  • Laura Branton: first place in 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle

“Everyone stepped up and performed well tonight,” said Nicole Abdullah, one of Oakton’s swim captains.
