Softball: Rain Delays Concorde Title Game

Oakton-Chantilly matchup postponed until Wednesday after two innings of play

The Oakton Cougars and Chantilly Chargers will have to wait to crown the 2012 Concorde District Champions after a downpour postpones the the game until Wednesday.

After two innings, the game was delayed and finally postponed after a second downpour squandered the raking efforts of fans who pitched in to rake the field.

The scoreless game will resume at the top of the third inning on Wednesday at Chantilly High. An official start time has not yet been set. Admission will be free.

Both starting pitchers, Oakton's Allison Davis and Chantilly's Alex Sallberg, have given up one hit — and each knocked the only single for their respective teams. Davis also pitched one strikeout.
