Softball: Oakton Advances in Regional Tournament

Oakton beats Yorktown 4-0

After scoring three runs in three innings, a rain delay threatened to halt Oakton's momentum in their game against Yorktown in the first round of the Northern Region tournament Friday.

But the Cougars would not only hold their lead but add to it to shut out the Patriots 4-0 to advance to the second round of the tournament.

The Cougars would strike in the first inning with an RBI double from Allison Davis to score Emily Corridon.

Davis also brought in Corridon for the second run in the third inning with an RBI single, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Mandy Krage to score Emily Krisanda. The Cougars led the Patriots 3-0 when rain delayed the game.

Angie Noviello gave the Cougars an insurance run in the seventh inning with an in-the-park home run to score the fourth and final run of the game.
