Readers' Choice Winner: Girls Soccer

Congratulations to the Oakton High girls soccer team for , which asked readers to name the spring sports team with the best chance at a state title.

The girls soccer team won with 34 percent of the vote from 43 readers in the Patch poll. The boys soccer and girls lacrosse teams tied for second at 18 percent.

Voters considered the following teams:

• Boys crew
• Girls crew
• Boys track & field
• Girls track & field

The team is bursting with fourth-year varsity players, all of whom are champing at the bit to help the team reach deep into the postseason.

"We have a strong senior class, so we definitely have big goals for the season," said Adelle Clinton, a senior and captain, in an . "I think because most of us have been playing with each other for so long, it definitely helps on the field because we can connect with each other a lot more. We just have a really good connection and that always helps in soccer."

We’ll continue to conduct other "Readers' Choice" polls that highlight local businesses, things to do and places to see. It’s an opportunity to learn more about our town. Besides, everyone loves a good debate about who offers the best this or where’s the best place for that.
