Oakton’s Austin Murga Wins Concorde District Title in Wrestling
Nine Cougars advance to regionals.
The top performer at the 189 pound weight class in the district belongs to Oakton. Junior Austin Murga toppled the competition at the 2011 Concorde District tournament to take home first place. Murga, who is now 25-3, defeated Westfield’s Brian Bentz to win the match by pin.
As a team, the Cougars finished in fourth place with 94 aggregate points. Westfield narrowly won the district with 225.5 points and was followed by Robinson with 219 points, then Chantilly with 119.
Cougars’ sophomore Eddie Gerow placed second in the 112 pound division and the Cougars had three wrestlers finish at the top of the consolation bracket in third place.

Freshman Alex Schlegel finished in third at the 103 pound weight class. Junior Albert Borges also finished in third place with a 5-1 decision in the 140 pound consolation round and 152 pound sophomore Matt Notarangelo placed third with a pin.
A.J. Duston, Luis Roscoe Davis and Spencer Conley all placed fourth at their weight divisions.
