Oakton-Madison Volleyball Match Celebrates Dig Pink
Funds raised benefit the Side-Out Foundation
Oakton and Madison volleyball faced off Wednesday during Oakton's fourth annual Dig Pink event, which promotes breast cancer awareness and raises funds for research.
The Oakton gym, crowd and players were all decked out in pink, with some Madison players even showing their support with pink ribbons in their hair.
All money raised benefits Side-Out Foundation, which was founded by former Oakton freshman volleyball coach , who lost his mother to breast cancer in August 2010.

Through all the festivities, there were games to be played. The Warhawks bested the Cougars in both the freshman and varsity volleyball games. The varsity match was a nail-biter with a back-and-forth fifth set in which the Warhawks came out on with a 21-19 win.
The Cougar junior varsity squad won in two sets.

Oakton varsity next plays Chantilly at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 12. Madison will host Thomas Jefferson at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 11.
