Indoor Track: Oakton Girls Place Third in Region

The Oakton High indoor track team took home Northern Region titles in three events Saturday.

The girls claimed two of those titles, with first-place finishes in the 4x800-meter relay and 55-meter hurdles. Allie Klimkiewicz, Hailey Dougherty, Kristi Carrigan and Briana Stewart comprise the relay team; Meghan Jean-Baptiste won the 55-meter hurdle.

Jean-Baptiste also placed third in two other events, the long jump and high jump. Klimkiewicz had a second-place finish in the 3200-meter run.

The girls 4x200 relay team, composed of Annachristina Clements, Christianne Butters, Danielle Fitzgerald and Jean-Baptiste performed, placed second.

Christopher Sprague claimed the boys' only regional title with a first-place finish in the 1000-meter run.

Top finishers move on to the VHSL AAA state championship meet Feb. 24 and 25 in Hampton.
