Bishop Ireton defeats Flint Hill 27-7

Heading into Friday's game, both Flint Hill and Bishop Ireton stood undefeated. But after an evenly matched first half, the Cardinals ran away with 27-7 victory.

The Cardinals notched the first touchdown of the game, scoring just as the first quarter ended. But the Huskies answered with a touchdown from Conor Chess, which came off four running plays after a successful fourth-down attempt, to tie the game at 7-7.

Chess took 17 carries for 105 yards. Jerrod Reed took six carries for 31 yards. Receiver Alex Abraham tallied 41 yards on four carries.

But with two minutes left in the first half, the Cardinals scored again to pull ahead 14-7 heading into halftime.

The second half belonged to the Cardinals, as they scored four plays into the second half and then again with about five minutes left in the third quarter to put the game out of reach at 27-7.

The Huskies next play at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James.

Other Husky stats:

Quarterback Andy Rehberger completed nine passes for 80 yards and gave up one interception.

Safety Ben Kase notched 11 tackles

Punter Hunter Windmuller had six punts for 46, 43, 49, 41, 48 and 29 yards.
