Lauren Kliska picks up only court in dominating fashion, but young team continues to struggle.

dropped its second straight match on Monday, 6-1 to Potomac School. The young Huskies lineup struggled to gain much momentum in any match. Only two girls ever held a lead at any point.

One of those girls was Lauren Kliska, who easily outmatched Emery Knighton and dispatched of her 10-0 to provide Flint Hill with a lone bright spot.

“They were just better than us,” said first-year Head Coach Stephen Spratt, who took over the boys team last year and has helped return it to prominence. “For one, we’re inexperienced. One-seed Frances Peyton maintained a quick pace with Kathleen Wilson, but too many unforced errors from Peyton and nearly mistake-free tennis from Wilson eventually led to a 10-3 result.

Meanwhile, two-seed Hayley Hickey couldn’t capitalize on a height advantage over Grace Meisel and also gave her opponent too many free points. She used high, looping ground strokes to push Meisel, who appeared to be not much taller than 5-feet, well behind the baseline, but failed to come to the net to finish points.
