Field Hockey: Season Ends for Cougars

Oakton and West Springfield kept their first-round Northern Region field hockey tournament game scoreless through the first half and most of the second.

With 10 minutes left on the clock, the Spartans sneaked in the only goal of the game, defeating the Cougars 1-0. Josie Siveroni scored the goal for the Spartans.

In the last four minutes, the Cougars attempted to take advantage of multiple corner penalty scoring opportunities, but the Spartans kept them at bay.

With the upset, the Cougars have been eliminated from the tournament, ending their 2011 season with a 14-5 record.
