Field Hockey: Cougars Drop District Final

Westfield shuts out Oakton in Concorde District title game

For the third straight year, the Oakton High field hockey team fell to Westfield in the Concorde District title game.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs posted a 5-0 shutout against the Cougars for the second time this season. Ciara Cooney, senior goalkeeper for the Cougars, had 11 saves. 

Katie Winesett (2), Meghan Winesett (2) and Kelly Duncan scored for the Bulldogs.

Three Cougars earned a place on the All-Tournament team: Cooney, Maggie Toye and Claire Weisskopf. 

Despite the loss, the Cougars will advance to the Northern Region Tournament next week. They will host the No. 3 seed from the National District at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
