Boys Lacrosse: Huskies Offense Stifled in Title Game
Potomac Panthers walk through Huskies to take the MAC Championship
The Mother’s Day showdown for the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title became a lopsided affair for the Huskies as they fell to rival Potomac 12-3.
The game was won and lost at the faceoff of line, as the Panthers won 12 of 13 faceoffs in Sunday's contest. Potomac struck first with a goal at the 10:12 mark, which Flint Hill's Nick Peterson answered at the 8:49 mark to even the contest at 1-1 starting a scoring spree on both sides for the first half of the first quarter. Potomac responded with a 30 seconds after Peterson's, and Matt Montagne again tied the game on an assist from Peterson.
With the score now 2-2 at the 7:18 mark of the first quarter, Potomac netted a goal to take the lead for good. Immediately after, the Panthers scored on a fastbreak off the faceoff, then again later in the quarter to enter the second quarter with a 5-2 advantage.

The Panthers' offense did not relent in the second half, opening up the second half with a goal that started a five-point run over six minutes to take a 12-2 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Though the Huskies kept the Panthers from scoring in the fourth quarter, they only netted one goal of their own late in the game to put the final score at 12-3.
The Potomac Panthers rolled through the MAC this year and are posed to advance into state play, while the Huskies' season ends with the loss.
