Boys Basketball: Cougars Can't Snap Losing Streak

Early deficit too much for Oakton High to overcome in Friday's game against Herndon

The Oakton High boys basketball team started to battle back from an 18-point halftime deficit, but fell short of gaining the lead to remain winless against Concorde District foes.

The Cougars tightened the point gap to nine points while holding the Hornets' offense to eight points in the third period. But the Hornets were able to stay ahead and finish the game on top 64-50.

The game started close, with the Dale Good — who led his team with 12 points — scoring all seven of the Cougars' first-period points and the Hornets not too far ahead with 13. But the Hornets' offense ran away with the second period, piling on 22 points while the Cougars were held to 10.
