Baseball: Huskies Fall in First Round of State Tourney

Flint Hill shut out against No. 2 Benedictine

The Flint Hill Huskies fell to the Benedictine Cadets 5-0 in the first round of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament Wednesday.

The No. 2 Cadets outhit the No. 7 Huskies 7-3, and scored four of their five runs on four hits in the first inning.

Right-hander Jared Knoll pitched all six innings for the Huskies, striking out six and giving up seven hits to seven different Benedictine batters. He did not give up a walk or a home run.

The Huskies' three hits came from David Belt, Michael Palma and Harrison Gray. Belt and Davis each drew a walk, and Nick Bazzarone got hit by a pitch twice to give the Huskies seven base runners in the game.

Flint Hill is still in the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament. They will host Sidwell Friends in the championship game at 4:30 p.m. today.
