A Look Ahead for Oakton High's Girls Swim

The team will welcome back all three 2013 individual state champions next season.

Oakton High School's girls swim team finished strong this season with their second consecutive state title. Next year they'll fight for their third with all three of the team's invidivual state champions.

The Cougars will welcome back Janet Hu, Laura Branton and Megan Byrnes next year. They'll also see the return of state finalists Julia Capobianco, Kendall Lawhorn and Elise Bourdelais.

A third title isn't a given, however. The team has a lot of work ahead, especially as they graduate two strong swimmers.

"There will be big shoes to fill both in performance and leadership with the graduation of Gillian Crews and Melissa Shebat," said coach Parker Ramsell. "Crews and Shebat have been incredibly valuable members of the team and their absence next year will certainly be felt."
