Report: NOVA Awards Most Associate Degrees

Northern Virginia Community College tops list of U.S. community colleges in latest report

(NOVA) has been ranked as the top two-year institution to award the most associate degrees for the 2010-2011 academic year, according to Community College Week, a biweekly publication.

According to the report, NOVA students earned 4,695 associate degrees in the 2010-11 academic year.

"Our graduates are eligible to transfer to all the well-known Virginia four-year colleges and universities through our guaranteed admission agreements. That’s a great deal," said NOVA President Robert G. Templin Jr. in a statement. "In this tough economy, knowledgeable consumers make the most of their college funds by finishing the first two years at NOVA."

In addition to awarding the most degrees, NOVA received two additional accolades in the report. NOVA awarded the most associate degrees in the business, management, marketing and related support services and computer and information sciences and support services categories and was No. 1 for the number of Asian-Americans who earned associate degrees with 758 graduates. The only other school to compete for that title is San Joaquin Delta College in California who had 702 Asian-American graduates.

NOVA was ranked eighth last year in the 2011 Community College Week Top 100 Associate Degree Producers list.
