Best Buddies International is an international nonprofit organization that works to create opportunities for one-on-one friendship for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Each year, the Best Buddies Challenge hosts a charity cycling event with 1,500 participants. As part of the D.C.-area challenge, Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers visited Oakton high school where he hosted a basketball clinic with students.
Best Buddies’ Oakton High chapter has been one of Best Buddies Virginia's top chapters since its launch in 2006 and was named ‘Outstanding Chapter of the Year’ three times within the last five years, according to the group.
Overall, the challenge raised $2.5 million in donations for Best Buddies International.
