Oakton Tech Program Gets Award for Program of the Year

Oakton High School got a nod for their industrial technology program by the Virginia Technology and Engineering Education Association. 

Technology education teacher Doug Kaltenbaugh and Oakton High School were recognized for the VTEEA High School Program of the Year, according to a press release from Fairfax County Public Schools.

VTEEA is a nonprofit that promotes technology education. Those nominated for the regional awards will be eligible at the national level by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association’s annual conference in March 2014.

Other winners from Fairfax County:

  • Kara Fahy, Nancy Rowland, Rachael Domer, and Fort Belvoir Elementary School were recognized for the VTEEA Elementary Program of the Year.
  • Timothy Threlkeld of Hughes Middle School was recognized as the Northern Regional Middle School Teacher of the Year.
  • John Alukonis of West Springfield High School was recognized as the Northern Regional High School Teacher of the Year.
