Marshall Road Elementary School’s Green Team is starting a few new projects to make the school more eco-friendly.
Some of the projects include students monitoring the amount of trash and recycled items coming from classrooms to see which classes are the best recyclers. Team members also collect unopened food items from the cafeteria that are later donated to a local food bank, according to fifth-grade teacher Mackenzie Kraus who helped start the team.
The group has blossomed from 8 members to 20 students and parents since it was founded last year.
“We are always looking for other student members and adults who would like to help out,” Kraus said.
The aim of the green team is to help make the school more eco-friendly and sustainable. Find out more about how to join the group.
