Oakton Voters Choose Allen, Perkins
Turnout at three Oakton precincts exceeds rate at county, state levels
Voters at Oakton precincts showed a preference for George Allen in the U.S. Senate Republican primary and Chris Perkins in the 11th congressional district primary, staying in line with voters in both Fairfax County and Virginia.
All four precincts followed on Oakton Patch favored Allen and Perkins.
In the U.S. Senate primary, Fairfax County had a turnout rate of about 4.8 percent, while the statewide turnout rate stands at about 5.4 percent. Precincts at Waples Mill Elementary, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax and Oak Marr Recreation had turnout rates higher than both at 5.5, 6.7 and 7.3 percent, respectively. Turnout at the Oakton High precinct fell behind the others at 3.7 percent.

The U.S. Senate race proved to be the more popular race of the two, with 22 fewer voters casting ballots for the 11th District contest.

Voters in the Waples Mill precinct (916) are in the 10th congressional district, which did not have a primary today. U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R) will face Kristin Cabral (D) in the general election Nov. 6.
