Kaine to Meet with Oakton Volunteers Today

U.S. Senate candidate to launch canvassing in Oakton at new headquarters

U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine (D) will come to Oakton for the first time in his campaign today, meeting with supporters and volunteers before launching a canvass in the area.

At 2 p.m. today, the former governor and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee will arrive at the campaign office at 2942 Hunter Mill Road, Suite 102, which opened last weekend.

"At each event, Kaine will meet with volunteers, discuss the importance of grassroots activism in his race, and launch canvasses where Virginians will share Kaine's message with their neighbors and friends," according to a release from the campaign Saturday.

Kaine will come to Oakton after attending a similar event in Manassas.

This week, Kaine took his first lead in the polls over opponent George Allen (R). In the money race, Kaine also has a lead over his fellow former governor, but Allen has so far edged out Kaine in fundraising among Oakton residents in the 22124 ZIP code.
