State Sen. Janet Howell (D-32nd), whose district includes part of Oakton, is among the hero nominees for Democracy for America's Heroes and Villains - Southern Edition.
Reston's Howell has been active in issues such as gun laws, abortion rights, equal rights and advocating for children and people with disabilities since taking office in 1992, Democracy for America noted.
Along with Oakton, Howell's 32nd District includes Reston and parts of Vienna, Tysons, McLean and Arlington.
Also up - in the villain column - is Virginia Attorney General and Gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli.
