You couldn't go on social media sites Wednesday without hearing thoughts on the Supreme Court ruling.
Residents from Oakton shared their emotions throughout the day.
Some believed that marriage should be between a man and a woman, but many readers who responded to an earlier story on Oakton Patch agreed with the ruling.
Anne said, "Why shouldn't all people who love one another be allowed what the rest of us get? Why shouldn't siblings that live in the same household be able to have joint insurance, benefits etc? It seems to me we always take and never give when we should think of the situtation."
