Virginia State Police confirmed that a tractor trailer headed westbound on Interstate 66 hit a guardrail near the Route 50 bridge and crashed on Monday morning.
"According to information from the truck driver, the car in front of him slowed down and the truck had to swerve to the right in order to avoid hitting the car," a state police press release reported.
The truck driver was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Fairfax Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
