UPDATE: Two Dead in Oakton Shooting

Man transported to area hospital dies; police launch murder-suicide investigation.

Original 9:15 p.m.: A shooting on Trevor House Drive in Oakton has left one person dead and sent a man to the hospital, according to Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Eddy Azcarate. 

Fairfax County dispatchers received a call around 7 p.m. for a report of shots fired in the 3000 block of Trevor House Drive.

Police found one deceased person in an apartment. A man was transported to a hospital, but police did not confirm where the second victim was found. 

There is no confirmation on whether one or both of the people involved were occupants of the apartment, nor on how or whether the two knew each other.

All persons involved in the incident are accounted for and no shooter is believed to be at large, Azcarate said. Neighbors have been told they are safe. 

No details are currently available regarding the condition of the man sent to the hospital. Police have not released information pertaining to the identity of the deceased person.
