Power Restored to Residents After Car Crashes into Pole

Dominion Virginia Power has replaced power pole on Gray Street

A car crashed into a power pole and transformer in Oakton around 2 a.m. Monday, causing hundreds to lose power, Fairfax County Police told WUSA9.

The accident, which caused the pole to crash down on the vehicle, occurred on Gray Street near where it intersects with Blake Lane.

Nobody was seriously injured in the incident, police said.

As of 12:38 p.m., all Dominion Virginia Power customers had their power restored, Dominion spokesperson Le-Ha Anderson told Oakton Patch. After the incident, about 1,000 customers lost power. Within an hour, all but about 485 customers had their power restored, she said. Dominion crews replaced the pole, but workers are still on the scene for cleanup. 

Police have not yet responded to a request for additional information on this morning's crash, including whether anyone has been charged.
