Oakton Woman Dies of Injuries from July Crash

Mary Tulipane succumbs to injuries sustained in Ashburn car accident.

An Oakton resident succumbed Tuesday to injuries from a crash last month in Ashburn, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

On July 21, Mary C. Tulipane, 60, of Oakton, was a front seat passenger in a 2006 Honda Pilot heading southbound on Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn when an oncoming 2008 Lexus Sudan crossed the double yellow line, striking the Honda, according to the latest crime report from the sheriff's office. 

The driver and two other occupants of the Honda sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals.

Jhansi L. Bellapu, 62, of Ashburn, also died in the crash. Bellapu was a passenger in the Lexus. 

The Lexus driver, a Chantilly resident, has been charged with reckless driving. The 35-year-old driver of the Lexus and a 3-year-old passenger had minor injuries.
