UPDATE: Case Against McFarland Will Not Be Prosecuted

Oakton arrest report through Feb. 9

UPDATE (March 14): The case against Sally Ann McFarland will not be prosecuted, and she no longer has charges pending against her, according to Fairfax County Courthouse staff.

McFarland, 53, had been charged with an assault against her husband, Timothy Bayly, 64. Though two days after McFarland's release from the Adult Detention Center Feb. 9, police said they have no reason to link his death with the alleged assault incident Feb. 8.

Sally Ann McFarland, 53, of 3279 Dutch Mill Court in Oakton, was arrested Feb. 8 for assault on a family member, according to the latest Fairfax County Police Department arrest report.

Police were dispatched at 7:18 p.m. Feb. 8 for a domestic violence call.

The victim was a 64-year-old male. He was treated at the scene for a minor injuries to the lower body.

"Because of the nature of it, I can’t give you too many details," said Officer Tawny Wright, a spokeswoman for FCPD.

McFarland was released from Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Feb. 9 on $500 bond. A court date is set for March 11.

Other recent Oakton arrests include incidents of driving while intoxicated, and drunk in public or profane.
