UPDATE: Police Say No Crime Committed at Oakton Elementary

Two female students say two men called 'come here' to them as they walked to recess

UPDATE (9:15 a.m.): Fairfax County Police Department said Monday morning no crime was committed at Oakton Elementary School on Friday afternoon.

"No crime was committed," said Officer Bud Walker, an FCPD spokesperson said. "In fact, we're not even looking for anyone, so there is no description to be given."

He said the department does not believe the incident Friday to be connected to any other incident in the area recently.

"Obviously we still urge children and any citizens that if they see suspicious people to give us a call and we'll come and check them out right on the spot," Walker said."In this situation, the two individuals made no attempt to grab the girls, didn't come close to the girls, made no movement towards the girls, so no crime."

Original: Oakton Elementary Reports Possible Attempted Abduction

Two Oakton Elementary School girls said they were approached Friday in what appears to be an abduction attempt, the school's principal said in an email to parents.

Two girls were walking to recess on the sidewalk near Miller Road when two men standing near a dark-colored car said "Come here" to them. The two girls ran to report the incident to a teacher, Principal Christine Gray wrote. The ages of the students were not mentioned.

The description of the suspects from Gray said one had black hair and the other had brown. Both had facial hair and were wearing gray shirts.

The incident has been reported to both Fairfax County Police and Fairfax County Public School Security, Gray wrote. Teachers and staff have been fully briefed on the incident. School security has increased their patrol in our area, Gray wrote.

Gray informed parents the travel pathways for students have been altered. In an email to one parent, Gray explained students are no longer permitted to travel along the sidewalk by Miller Road without an adult.

A parent of one of the girls involved in the incident shared more information with other parents, saying the trunk of the suspects' car was open when the girls were called, and one of the suspects had dark hair, a goatee and a piercing on his eyebrow.

As of Sunday evening, the Fairfax County Police have not returned a phone call requesting information on Friday's incident at Oakton Elementary.

On Oct. 11, an Oakton High student . The 16-year-old girl described the man as possibly Hispanic, in his early to mid-20s, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build, and short, black hair. He had an eyebrow piercing and two piercings in his left ear.

Three days after the Oct. 11 incident, at about 3:10 p.m. to ask for directions on Blake Lane near Bushman Drive. Knowing of the incident earlier in the week, the two students ran away.
