Lightning Strike Causes $195,000 Damage to Oakton Home

Two-story home on Trenholm Drive catches fire during Friday night's storm

caused $195,000 in damage, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue estimates. 

Lightning struck a two-story, single-family home at 3140 Trenholm Drive on Friday night, causing a fire that ravaged the upstairs portion of the house. 

Fire and Rescue units responded to the house fire at approximately 10:20 p.m., where they encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof, according to a news release.

"I was really impressed with the firefighters. They were calm and worked fast, really polite," a neighbor said. "I've never seen them in action before, and they were impressive."

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Friday, June 1, 2012, at approximately 10:20 p.m., in the Oakton area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3140 Trenholm Drive. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, quickly enough to save about half the roof.
