Fire At Oakton Home Causes $250,000 in Damage

More than 60 firefighters responded to scene on Ellmore Lane.

A fire at an Oakton home Saturday is still under investigation, but Fairfax fire officials said Monday the blaze caused a quarter million in damages.

Units responded around 6:35 p.m. Saturday to the home, located at 3419 Ellmore Lane in Oakton, and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the two-story home, officials said in a statement Monday.

The fire began on or under the back deck but quickly spread to the attic and roof. More than 60 firefighters joined the scene after the incident commander struck a second alarm, conducting an "aggressive exterior and interior fire attack" that brought the fire under control in less than a half hour, according to officials.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire but one adult has been displaced from the home. A firefighter also incurred a non-life threatening injury.

The investigation continues, but damage is estimated at approximately $250,000.
