Fair Oaks Police Log: Aug. 30-Sept. 5

For the week ending Sept. 5, there were four major incidents and nine larcenies included in the Fair Oaks District Activity Report. Fair Oaks District encompasses Oakton.

Major Incidents — Fair Oaks

Vehicle Pursuit: 8/29/12, 6:45 p.m. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on I-66 near Route 28. The vehicle allegedly accelerated away and the officers pursued. Several officers including State Police and Fairfax 1 (helicopter) chased the vehicle to Tysons Boulevard and Rt 123. Charles Lawton, 44, of Washington, DC. was arrested and charged with felony habitual offender, felony eluding police and having unapproved stickers on the windshield. Sexual Battery: Police arrested a 23-year-old Fairfax man who volunteered with the King’s Chapel Church, 12925 Braddock Road, youth group and charged him with two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

Police began an investigation after receiving a call from the parents of a 14-year-old who reportedly told parents that the suspect gave them (and other teens) a massage. After questioning the child further, parents learned of the alleged abuses and contact police on August 3.

James West, formerly of 5616 Hope Park Road, Fairfax, was not a member of the paid church staff but volunteered there for several years. He was charged at 8 a.m. on Friday, August 31 at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Robbery: Fair Lakes Parkway/Monument Drive, 09/01/12, 9:15 p.m. Victim reported he was walking on a sidewalk when he was assaulted and robbed by three black males. They took his cell phone and cash. Suspects were all in their mid to late teens, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall. One had dreadlocks, one was wearing a black North Face jacket and the third was wearing a white T-shirt.

Indecent Exposure: 3000 block of Hickory Grove Court, 09/03/12, 7:11 p.m. Two women walking on a path along Vaden Drive saw a man wearing a blue mask on his face. The suspect was described as Hispanic or Middle Eastern in his 20s. He had dark eyes and dark hair. He did not approach the women.

Larcenies

• 2800 block of Bradley Acres, power washer from residence
• 13000 block of Fair Lakes Shopping Center, wallet from business
• 11700 block of Fair Oaks Shopping Center, jewelry from business
• 12900 block of Grays Pointe Road, two bicycles from business
• 12300 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, two chainsaws from vehicle
• 13100 block of Maltese Lane, tools from vehicle
• 10200 block of Martinhoe Drive, diamond earrings from business
• 9600 block of Nonquitt Drive, headphones from residence
• 2700 block of Valestra Circle, three handguns from residence

Animal Control Division — Countywide

Animal Bite: 2400 block of Jackson Parkway, 8/31/12, 6 a.m. A 69-year-old man was bitten on his finger by a feral cat.

Beaver Tests Positive for Rabies: The beaver evening has tested positive for the rabies virus.

Animal Control Officers canvas neighborhoods any time a human has been exposed to the rabies virus with educational information. These flyers offer information on how local residents can help prevent exposure to themselves and their pets.

Residents are also asked to report any sick or injured wild animals to the Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
