Fair Oaks District Police Log: Oct. 6-12

For the week ending Oct. 12, there were two major incidents, seven larcenies and two vehicle thefts included in the Fair Oaks District Activity Report.

  • Sobriety Checkpoint Results: Fairfax County police officers from around the county conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Sunday. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs. Approximately 893 motorists passed through the checkpoint in the westbound lanes of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway near the intersection of Alder Woods Drive. One arrest was made for DWI; seven summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses. Ten auxiliary officers and eight police officers participated in this operation. 
  • Attempted Abduction: Police are investigating a report that a 16-year-old girl was grabbed by a man as she walked to school on Tuesday, Oct. 11 around 6:30 a.m. The victim told police she was walking along Blake Lane, approaching the intersection of Palmer Street, when she noticed a man standing on the sidewalk in front of her. As she approached, the man engaged her in conversation. The suspect asked the victim to get into his car and she refused. As she started to walk away, the suspect grabbed her and attempted to force her into his car. The victim was able to break free and run; she was not injured. to read a detailed description of the suspect and his car.

  • 2700 block of Curzon Court: GPS, airbags and steering wheel stolen from vehicle
  • 2300 block of Dulles Corner Boulevard: iPad stolen from business
  • 10300 block of Hickory Forest Drive: iPhone charger and money stolen from vehicle
  • 3900 block of Kathryn Jean Court: Airbag stolen from vehicle
  • 11100 block of La Messa Drive: Bicycle stolen from residence
  • 11200 block of Lee Highway: Money stolen from business
  • 9400 block of Regency Crest Drive: Airbags stolen from vehicle
