Fair Oaks District Officers of the Month

Rafael Guerrero, Eric Becker, Phillip Stone named for July, August and September

After summer hiatus, the Citizen Advisory Committee helped Fair Oaks District Station recognize Officers of the Month for July, August and September on Sept. 27.

PFC Rafael Guerrero earned the distinction for July because of his work on the case in which young women were being stabbed in the butt while shopping. Though the case is not closed, Guerrero helped identify the suspect after using his Spanish-speaking abilities to talk to members of the Hispanic community.

"He rode buses, talked to people there, and we were able to not only identify him, but also narrow down which specific country the suspect's family is from," said Lt. Dan Townsend, assistant commander for the Fair Oaks District. "It was good old-fashioned police work."

The suspect has been identified as Johnny D. Guillen Pimentel, 40, who Fairfax County Police believe has left Northern Virginia.

PFC Eric Becker received the honor for August because of his dedication to integrating the station into a new record management system called I-Leads.

"Eric Becker is what we call our technological geek," Townsend said. "He's very smart, and we really needed someone like him to do this."

Becker voluntarily acted as a liaison between the IT department and the rest of the officers, helping to solve issues that arose with the program's integration.

Becker did this work in addition to his daily duties, in which he serves as a Field Training Instructor. Most recently, he has been training the new auxiliary officers.

Officer Phillip Stone received the September award, but was unable to attend the CAC meeting.

"We're very proud to have these gentlemen as representatives from our station," Townsend said.

The Fair Oaks CAC meets the last Tuesday of each month at the Fair Oaks District Station, 12300 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax.
