'Celebrate Fairfax' Volunteer from Chantilly Charged with Embezzlement

25-year-old Chantilly woman was tending a cash box at one of the community festival entrances.

A 25-year-old woman who was overseeing a cash box at an entrance to Celebrate Fairfax this weekend was arrested and charged with embezzlement, according to Fairfax County Police officials.

The woman, from Chantilly, was working at an entrance gate between noon and 5 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report. Celebrate Fairfax management reportedly became suspicious of her activities and called police, who discovered the woman allegedly had been taking cash from residents purchasing tickets for the fair.

Celebrate Fairfax is one of the region's largest festivals and was this past weekend on the Fairfax County Government center grounds.

The woman cooperated with police, returned all the cash and was brought to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police.
