The Arlington Mill Community Center will host an open house on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to inform the community about the center’s programs, classes, drop-in opportunities and more. Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) will have a table Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to inform the community about its new Early Head Start program on-site and will be providing tours of the facility. On Saturday, the NVFS Early Head Start Center will provide tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. General tours of the building will be offered Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m.
The public is welcome to speak with NVFS staff or visit the facility during the Friday and Saturday Open House. Fun activities for all ages will be held throughout the two days at Arlington Mill, including fitness classes for adults, art projects for teens and adults, wall climbing, moon bouncing, games for the little ones, etc. To view the full two-day event schedule, visit the Arlington County website.

The Arlington Mill Early Head Start Child Development Center opened on November 12 and provides 24 children between the ages of six weeks and three years old a safe and nurturing learning environment with individualized attention. The center is comprised of three classrooms with 10 on-site staff and three off-site specialists who provide ongoing support to the program. NVFS has an understanding with the parent-infant education program of Arlington County to support and enrich the children with identified-developmental needs. The center’s hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Northern Virginia Family Service operates four Early Head Start Centers, two home-based Early Head Start Programs and one Head Start Center at distinct locations serving a total of 414 children throughout the Northern Virginia region. Three of the seven programs—two Early Head Start and one Head Start Center—are offered in Arlington County and serve 294 children. The centers are managed by dedicated Early Childhood specialists with support from the children’s parents who regularly volunteer on-site. NVFS is always in need of volunteers at any of the centers.
